About FamilyChore

FamilyChore is a free set of tools for sharing housework fairly: a chore chart maker, a daily tracker with streaks and rewards, templates by age, cleaning schedules and a chore wheel.

How it works

Everything runs in your browser. Charts, ticks, rewards and settings are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, so there are no accounts and nothing to sign up for. Printing uses your browser's print dialog, where "Save as PDF" gives you a file.

The optional household planner on the home page sends the description you type to an AI model (via Vercel AI Gateway) to draft a chore split. It is only called when you press the button, and the text is not stored by us.

Where the age guidance comes from

Our chore-by-age lists are general suggestions compiled from widely shared parenting guidance, including the American Academy of Pediatrics' parent site HealthyChildren.org, which encourages giving children household responsibilities that grow with age. They are not medical or developmental advice. Children differ, and safety comes first: keep cleaning chemicals, sharp tools, ovens and mowers for older children with supervision.

The allowance figures use the popular "$1 per week per year of age" rule of thumb, labelled as such; it is a convention rather than a standard. Smoke-alarm testing advice follows the US Fire Administration and NFPA recommendation to test monthly.
